The Trump administration filed a lawsuit against New York State and its governors, Attorney General Kathy Hochul and Letia James, claiming it failed to comply with federal law by protecting illegal immigrants. – Attorney General Bondy announced on Wednesday.
“This is a new DOJ,” Bondi announced at a press conference. “New York has chosen to prioritize illegal aliens over American citizens. That’s stopping. Today it’s stopping.”
Also indicted is Mark Schroeder, Commissioner of the New York Automobile Bureau. Bondy cited New York’s Greenlight Act, also known as the Driver’s License Act. This allows illegal immigrants to obtain driver’s licenses.

The law also prevents certain federal agencies from accessing New York’s driver’s license information.
“They have a law of green light, which means they are giving green light to illegal foreigners in New York, where if law enforcement officers pull them, We can’t verify their identity,” Bondy said. “And law enforcement officers don’t have access to their background, and if these great men and women don’t get to get to the background, they don’t know who they’re dealing with. Every day. line.
“If we don’t follow federal law, we will hold you accountable,” Bondy said. “We did that to Illinois, attack one. Strike 2 is New York. And if you’re a state that doesn’t comply with federal law, you should prepare next.”
The Justice Department last week called on federal judges to break sanctuary policies in Illinois and Chicago.
Bondy is joined by Maryland’s “angel mom” Tammy Nobles, and her 20-year-old daughter, Kayla Hamilton, was raped and murdered in 2022 by illegal immigrants and MS-13 members.

The Department of Homeland Security “didn’t do the job,” Nobles said Wednesday.
“They didn’t check his background,” she said. “I am very grateful to Pam for welcoming me here today. I am very grateful for the opportunities I have received from Trump and other platforms. I am ending.”

During a press conference, Bondi urged states to comply with federal laws.
“We don’t want to sue you. We don’t want to prosecute people. We want people to follow the law,” she said. “This is very simple. A MS-13 member murdered his daughter. It’s happening in this country.
“There are too many angel moms,” she added. “And there are angel moms in this country that shouldn’t be going through this. Follow the law. This is the last thing we want to do.”
