We all know about the ongoing egg shortage and surge prices across the US, but that hasn’t stopped one California farm from supporting the community.
Santa Maria-based Rosemary Farm announced this week on its website that it will donate 270,000 eggs to families affected by the Pallisard and Eton fires this week. The farm is partnering with the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank to distribute eggs to families.
“This contribution will provide high-quality protein to thousands of families, ensuring nutritious foods are available during these difficult times,” the farm said.

From January to February, an additional 54,000 eggs were donated by Rosemary Farm to several organizations, including the Tehacha Pigrain Project. These eggs are used to prepare meals for affected families and first responders.
“Now, more than ever, our community needs fresh, nutritious foods,” said Tracy Ramsdell, family representative at Rosemary Farm. “We give to organizations that distribute food to people in need, as well as those who have done so to cook for men and women at the forefront of these destructive and unstable fires. I wanted to. This is a way to support both families facing difficulties and all the first responders who are tirelessly trying to protect them.”
The farm also donated eggs to Winter Fate Bake. This prepares a birthday cake for children affected by destructive flames.
The donation will arise as the average US egg price hit $4.95 on Thursday, far surpassing the previous record of $4.82. Some stores in Southern California have been priced at $8, or even $9 in recent weeks.
