The plane carrying Secretary of State Marco Rubio detoured to Andrews’ joint base Thursday night due to mechanical issues.
Rubio was on his way from Washington, D.C. to Munich, Germany on Thursday night, spokesman Tammy Bruce.

The plane then turned around and returned to Andrews’ joint base.
Bruce said Rubio will continue his trip to Germany and the Middle East on another plane.

Rubio will travel to the Middle East for several days after attending the Munich Security Conference in Germany, and will visit Israel, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Saudi Arabia.

His impending visit to the Middle East comes at a pivotal time of foreign policy as Israel and Hamas implement a three-phase ceasefire agreement after the 16-month war in Gaza.
