Several Justice Department officials resigned in protest Thursday, rather than complying with an order to stop the bribery lawsuit against New York City Mayor Eric Adams.
His resignation comes amid President Donald Trump’s efforts to re-examine his agency.
The six resignations include a memorandum of understanding by Deputy Attorney General Emil Bove, who is the Trump election to be temporarily led by Trump, who has resigned from Adams, according to a memorandum of understanding. It includes Daniel Sasson’s performance.

“I remain confused by the rushed, superficial process of reaching this decision,” Sasson wrote in a letter to Attorney General Pam Bondy.
Adams, a Democrat who said he was targeted by the Biden administration, is willing to work with the Trump administration’s crackdown on illegal immigration. Adams pleaded not guilty to accusations of accepting bribes from Turkish officials.
“Adams’ defense should be called for what it is, rather than being paid off, an inappropriate offer of immigration enforcement assistance in exchange for firing his case,” Sasson wrote to Bondi.
Adams’ attorney Alex Spiro said in an email to Reuters that the charges against his client were “fake.”
“If there was evidence that SDNY had destroyed the evidence, they would have brought about those accusations. “This latest false claim is nothing more than a shot of the farewell of a misguided prosecutor who was exposed as fake. .”
In a memo on Thursday, Bove wrote that Sasson refused to comply with what he called his office’s discovery that the lawsuit against Adams amounted to weaponizing the judicial system.
“Your resignation is acceptable… You lost sight of the vows you took when you started DOJ,” he wrote.
“Your office has no authority to challenge the discovery of weapons,” writes Bove, Trump’s former personal criminal defense attorney. “The Department of Justice does not tolerate disobedience.”

After Sassoon refused to dismiss the case, the Trump administration has instructed John Keller, the representative of the Justice Department’s Public Corruption Unit, to do so, according to those familiar with the matter. .
Keller also resigned Thursday, said two people familiar with the matter and Kevin Drisco, a senior official in the department’s criminal division.
Three other agents from the Department of Justice’s Public Corruption Unit — Rob Hebare, Jen Clark and Marco Palmieri — also resigned from the Adams case on Thursday, a well-versed person in question said.
Department of Justice officials confirmed the resignation of Keller and Driscoll and did not immediately respond to three other requests for comment.

Fox News Digital has contacted the White House. Since taking office in January, Trump has fired more than 12 federal prosecutors who pursued a lawsuit against him.
In a statement from Fox News, Bove must reject prosecutors against Adams in order to “prioritize national security and public safety over continuing cases polluted from the start by troubling tactics.” He said he concluded that it would not be possible.
“The Department of Justice’s Department for Attorneys has no room to refuse to enforce administrative priorities, a priority determined by Americans,” he said. “We look forward to working with our new leadership at SDNY on the key priorities that President Trump laid out to make America safe again.”
