A federal judge on Friday extended a temporary order that blocked Elon Musk’s Government Efficiency (DOGE) team from accessing payment systems within the Treasury Department.

The extension is against the Trump administration for access to Doge’s payment system, which 19 state attorney generals have information on social security for Americans, Medicare and veteran benefits, tax refund information and more. It was filed after the lawsuit was filed.

The lawsuit alleges that an agency run by Musk has illegally accessed the Treasury’s central payment system at the request of the Trump administration.

On Friday, U.S. District Judge Janet Vargas in Manhattan said she is not yet planning to rule on the general demands of her attorney for a longer interim injunction.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent told Fox Business last week that concerns about Doge’s access to the Treasury Department were invalid.

“Doge doesn’t fail,” he said. “They are moving cheese for many people in this capital. When I hear this cry, some current situation interests are not happy.”

He continued, “In the Ministry of Finance, our payment system is not touched. We process 1.3 billion payments a year. Research is being done. But payments have been stopped. In that it is happening upstream at the departmental level.”

The newly created Doge aims to reduce government waste and is given access to more than 12 government agencies, including the United States Organization for International Development (USAID), the Department of Education and the Department of Labor.
