Etonfire evacuees who live in the Pasadena Civic Auditorium will soon be redirected to Pamela Park Gymnasium in Duarte, announced Saturday by Los Angeles County supervisor Kathryn Burger.
When the Red Cross took over administering the Pasadena Shelter, complicated officials demanded that the facility be returned to the city of Pasadena shortly after the first week of February, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Public Social Welfare. The city allowed the shelter to be extended until a suitable new location was found.
The centre avoided nearly 1,500 evacuees during its peak. The Eton Fire destroyed more than 9,400 structures, resulting in at least 17 deaths.
The focus of the county and the American Red Cross was to find shelter locations near where the remaining evacuees lived.
All households in the emergency shelter are assisted by Red Cross Shelter Resident Transition Specialists, including working with county officials to provide transportation and ensuring that all residents have a clear plan. It is assigned to do so, officials said.
