U.S. Housing and Urban Development Secretary Scott Turner announced a new Department of Government Efficiency task force at his federal agency on Thursday to “eliminate waste, fraud and abuse.”
Doge said $1.9 billion in HUD money had been recovered as of Friday, with funds misguided during the Biden administration saying “allocated to manage financial services, but no longer needed.” It wasn’t,” he said.

HUD is responsible for national housing policy and urban development, with programs including affordable housing programs, community development, homeowner support, fair housing and anti-discrimination enforcement, homeless services and affordable Includes housing programs.
Turner said in an announcement Thursday that the Doge task force has already identified more than $260 million in savings.
