(News Nation) – Employees of Elon Musk’s SpaceX team visit the Federal Aviation Administration Air Traffic Control Command in Virginia shortly after a fatal collision between the passenger seat and the military helicopter in Washington, DC .
Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said that members of the SpaceX team will “see firsthand the current system and learn what air traffic controllers like and dislike about current tools, new, better, modern, and more He said he would assume how a secure system could be created.
Duffy said earlier this month at X that government efficiency led by SpaceX CEO Elon Musk is trying to “plug in” to upgrade aviation systems. Some people say this could blur the line in terms of mask private companies and his role in doge.
What is Doge and what does it do?
Duffy said on X that the FAA will regularly offer tours of command centres to the media and businesses in order to step down from criticism.
Later this week, Duffy said he was traveling to the FAA Academy in Oklahoma to meet with air traffic controller instructors and students.
“@USDOT is open to all patriotic developers or businesses who want to help our country with this incredible game-changing mission,” Duffy said. “I’d like to hear from a company that is committed to guiding travel in America during its golden age!”
Lawmakers on both sides of the aisle raised concerns that they were not staffing at levels that require air traffic control. This issue has been explained for many years as air traffic controllers report being overloaded.

Recently, the Trump administration and administrations within the Doge have continued their goal of reducing the federal government. This includes the FAA.
Hundreds of employees have been fired “for no reason,” according to the union of professional aviation safety professionals representing some FAA workers.
The National Air Traffic Controllers Association said in a statement Monday that “we analyze the effectiveness of reported firing of federal employees on aviation safety, the National Space System and our members.”
What lies behind Elon Musk’s feud with the FAA?
David Spero, president of the Professional Aviation Safety Professionals Union, said the organization is “troubled and disappointed by the administration’s decision to fire FAA probation employees.”
“These are not unnamed, faceless bureaucrats. They are our family, friends and neighbors. They are contributing to our community,” Sparo said. “There are many military veterans. It’s shameful to abandon a dedicated civil servant who has chosen to work on behalf of his fellow Americans.”
Pete Buttigeg, former traffic secretary under former President Joe Biden, said in Blueski that “the flying public is answering” how many people fired FAA personnel.
