Campus police issued a crime warning Monday, saying officers were searching for a man suspected of sexually assaulting a UCLA student on campus.
The UCLA Police Department said the non-student suspect arrived in the 700 block of North Lane, known as Cypress Court, around 10:15pm on Sunday.
Police said the man was there to deliver food to UCLA students. The student’s identities were not immediately made public.
While getting food from the delivery person, police said the suspect touched the victim’s body against the victim’s will.
The man then entered the dark sedan and moved away from the scene, UCPD reported.
The UCPD said the incident was reported to the department around 10:54pm and no injuries were mentioned.
Police described the suspect as a short-sized man who appears to be in his 50s and 60s with gray hair and a complete whisker.
Additionally, UCPD said the suspect was wearing a dark zip-up sweatshirt and cream-colored pants at the time of the reported sexual battery.
Police said they wanted to remind campus communities to: While the incident is currently under investigation:
Dial 9-1-1 in an emergency. For non-urgent, program your UCLA PD 24-hour phone number to your mobile phone – 310-825-1491. Always be vigilant and aware of your surroundings. Report suspicious activity to the police. Do not leave the doors to the supported building open. Lock all windows and doors to secure the residence.
