First on Fox: Mark Zuckerberg’s philanthropy ended its Diversity, Equity and Inclusion program on Tuesday, and Fox News Digital learned along with social advocacy efforts, including immigration reform and racial equality grants.
Marc Malandro, Chief Operating Officer of the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, emailed staff members in the announcement Tuesday evening.
The move comes after Zuckerberg’s meta ended its DEI program last month. This is a move that ensures that the company will “build a team with the most talented people.”

Meta also ended its fact-check program, lifted Speech restrictions, “restoring free representation” across Facebook, Instagram and Meta platforms, and admitted that content moderation practices have “go too far.”
Meta’s policy chief says the decision to terminate the DEI will ensure that it will hire “the most talented people.”
In a company-wide memo, Malandro said he and his leadership team are reviewing CZI’s programs and practices.
“As a result, we decided a few years ago to decline social advocacy jobs, and we would like to repeatedly remove that funding and share new changes we made to our employment and HR practices. Diversity,” he wrote.
Malandro explained that CZI “will invest in supporting research teams in building biohubs and solving complex issues related to biology and health.”

Malandro said that CZI is “very focused on solving four epic challenges that will provide scientists with tools to treat, prevent or manage all diseases in the coming decades.” I emphasized it. Develop cutting-edge imaging systems for observing live active cells. Measure tissues to better understand inflammation, an important factor in many diseases. Engineering and use of the immune system for early detection, prevention and treatment of diseases.
However, Malandro announced that the CZI has focused on science and “repeated our social advocacy funds.”

“This includes previous work on immigration reform and racial equity grants that completed the five-year programme we announced in 2020,” he writes. “We haven’t started any new programs in this area for several years, and we have a multi-year grant commitment we have done before.
Malandro added: “Looking ahead, we hope that the increased focus of CZI will continue to push the frontiers of biology and AI.”
Regarding Dei, Malandro cited “regulation and legal landscape change.”
“In addition, given the regulatory and legal environment of shifts, CZI lacks diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility teams,” he writes. “The three members of that team have moved into new roles and responsibilities.”
In regards to employment, the CZI “stops diversified slate practices.”

“From now on, we will always cast a wide net to source top candidates and always select the best candidate for the role,” he writes.
“We are committed to ensuring that our work is useful to everyone. We are welcome at CZI and feel that we can do the best work of your career here.” He continued. “To support this, we build a workforce that reflects a wide range of experience, thoughts and opinions, and support employees who support employees through employee resource groups and participate in everyone. You can do it, and effort.”
