The female estranged husband and four other men said police had stole her for weeks, planned to kill her, and shot her deadly last month outside the San Bernardino restaurant. He faces murder charges, authorities said Tuesday.
Yeshenia Torres, 44, and her husband Sergio Rebel, 53, are in the midst of a controversial divorce in which police were dragged over for two years after police allegedly paid large amounts of cash to a group of men. There was – approaching hundreds of thousands of dollars – to kill her.

Eventually, she tried to run back inside the restaurant, causing fatal injuries. Martinez said a total of nine rounds were fired in the attack.
Police found she didn’t respond at the doorway of a restaurant where she was later declared dead.
Witnesses gave police early clues to the incident: vehicle license plate numbers and descriptions of suspects who fled, Martinez said. Investigators also obtained surveillance video showing the attack, but Martinez said he “had great support in the investigation.”
Police later discovered that the Ford Escape had been abandoned in the parking lot at Walmart in San Bernardino. Lamas and the escape driver were identified by 54-year-old Arnold Ruelas and police, and entered another vehicle and fled the business after exchanging clothes.
“There was always one thing we asked: what is the link between the victim and the two suspects?” Martinez said.
Martinez said police found evidence inside the Ford SUV and led them to additional suspects in the case. Authorities did not detail the evidence found.
