Garcia draws scrutiny from Trump officials about his musk comments

WASHINGTON – Rep. Robert Garcia, a Democrat’s beloved from Long Beach, faces scrutiny from President Trump’s Justice Department over recent comments on Elon Musk.

Garcia has skewered musk several times since the billionaire began his mission to suck the gut into the federal government using the newly created government efficiency, or Doge. In several media interviews, Garcia has called for an increase in Doge’s surveillance, including issuing subpoenas to masks.

However, recent comments about bringing “real weapons” to the fight for American democracy have drawn the attention of federal prosecutors. The person who sent a letter to Garcia His comments warn him that they are overly inflammatory.

Garcia escalated rhetoric at a Doge Subcommittee meeting last week when he brought in a poster-sized image of a mask and introduced it using vulgarity.

Garcia said she was encouraged to use this period by another member of the committee, Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.). The photo was “proof that Hunter Biden is making porn.”

Garcia used vulgarity and moved to the mask poster, saying, “Now, this is of course what President Elon Musk knows. He is also the wealthiest man in the world. He was the biggest in the last election. He was a political donor. He has billions of dollars of conflict of interest, and we are encouraged by him as he leads PowerGlove and remains with Donald Trump and of course Speaker Green. I know that.

Democrats are largely divided on how they will respond to the huge flood of changes Trump and Musk have imposed on the federal government in the month since Trump took office. But Garcia, a former mayor of Long Beach, who has enjoyed strong support from party leaders such as Biden and Gov. Gavin Newsom, has taken a proactive approach.

His provocative rhetoric attracted rage throughout Washington. When asked about it in a CNN interview, Garcia digs his heels and uses his vulgarity again to say: And what I really matter and what the American people want is that we bring actual weapons into this bar battle. This is a real battle for democracy. ”

On Monday, U.S. lawyer Edward Martin and Trump candidates wrote to Garcia, asking him to “be clarified.” [his] Comments from a CNN interview.”

“This sounds like a threat to Musk…and the government staff who work for him,” Martin wrote in the letter. “Their concerns led to this investigation.”

Rep. Nancy Mace (Rs.C.) called on the house to blame Garcia more than his comments, calling them “dangerous and confused.”

“His words are the lowest form of political robbery, but the left is silent because it is one of their own,” Mace said in a statement. “I hate this double standard.”

Garcia scoffed at their reaction, saying in a statement: “Reasonable people don’t consider my comments a threat. We live in a dangerous period and elected members of Congress must have the right to be strong against the Trump administration. We will not be silent.”

According to the Washington Post, Mercia’s email to Garcia is part of a broader effort from his office, known as the “Operation Whirlpool,” chases threats to civil servants.

His office also sent multiple letters to minority leader Chuck Schumer (DN.Y.) about comments he made about the Supreme Court’s decision on abortion in 2020. When you release a whirlwind, you pay the price. If you proceed with these terrible decisions, you don’t know what hit you. ”

The next day, Schumer said in a speech on the Senate floor that he had no intention of proposing anything other than political and public influence to the Supreme Court.
