President Donald Trump’s leader would soon end the war between Russia and Ukraine, national security adviser Mike Waltz vowed, ensuring Ukrainian President Voldy Zelensky would sign the contract.
“Under Trump, this war will end, and it will soon be over,” Waltz said at a conservative political action meeting near the country’s capital on Friday. “He is the president of peace.”
The Waltz defended the Trump administration’s decision to come to the table negotiating with Russia during a meeting in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday, repeating sentiment from President JD Vance on Thursday.
“We can’t end the war unless we talk to both sides. That’s what we’re doing,” Waltz said.

“It certainly isn’t Russian interests, and it’s not to shatter what Americans’ interests in this war that has never been forever and never before,” Waltz said Thursday. “So, an important part of his conversation was to help President Zelensky realize that this war needs to end.”
