One person was killed in the wrong collision and four others were hospitalized in West Covina on Friday.
Police responded to a crash in the 1700 block of West Puente Avenue, West Covina, around 12:16am.
Investigators said the male Toyota Sedan driver was traveling on the other side of the road and he collided head-on with the Honda Sedan, and he said he had four people in his hands.
The male passenger in the Honda rear seat was declared dead at the scene. Other passengers were taken to nearby hospitals in various conditions.
One was in a dangerous state, one was in stable condition, and a third party was treated and released from hospital. They were identified only as two adult males and one adult female.
The wrongly hoping Toyota driver, the sole resident of his car, was taken to hospital in dangerous conditions.
The situation leading up to the fatal crash remains unknown. No further details have been released, including driver names in the wrong direction. The identity of the deceased victim is withheld as notification of the near-kind is pending.
“The police station’s major accident investigation team (MAIT) is responding to the scene and investigating the cause of the traffic collision,” the authorities said.
