The suspect was arrested after pursuing police before crashing in central Los Angeles.
Los Angeles police have identified the suspect as a monk in Quentin.
On February 20, an officer with details of the LAPD gang enforcement was supporting the Robbery Task Force when he became involved in the pursuit of a suspected robbery.
The suspected monk continued to speed up and eventually headed to the Hancock Park area near Oakwood Avenue and June Street before entering Caldesac.
As the officer approached him, Monk turned around at his car and suddenly accelerated towards them.
Monk continued to speed up, and later crashed into another car at the intersection of Beverly Boulevard and Wilton Avenue in Larchmont.
Monk decides to abandon his car and begins to escape from the area on foot, but is soon arrested by the police.
The victim, who was hit by a monk, was taken to hospital with minor injuries. The monk was not hit by the fire during the shooting, and the officer was not injured during the pursuit.
He was arrested by a police officer for assaulting him with a deadly weapon. No further details have been made public as the case is under investigation.
