Police arrested a Southern California man. A Southern California man crashed the car while driving drunk, fled the scene and left the passenger to death.
The Rialto Police Station said a call was received at the station reporting a collision of one vehicle around 8:17pm on Friday.
About three minutes later, officers arrived in the 500 block of West Merrill Avenue, finding only passengers in the car with life-threatening injuries.
Officers tried to save their life with emergency first aid procedures, but eventually declared her dead at the scene at 8:25pm.
Police have identified the passenger as 33-year-old Rachel Martin of Rialto.
Details are limited regarding the driver who escaped, and police did not immediately say how long he had stayed, but he was eventually identified by witnesses and arrested.
Officials identified the driver as 28-year-old Joshua Cardanas of Rialto and said he had only minor injuries from the crash.
According to the original research, the Cardenas was speeding up on the white 2021 Ford Mustang, driving more than 85 mph on Merrill Avenue.
Cardenas passes through the intersection of Cactus Avenue, crashes into multiple trees, eventually heading west.
While the investigation is underway, police said there is evidence that Cardenas was driving under the influence of alcohol when it crashed.
He also said that the department’s release was “speed is considered a factor.”
Officers booked Cardenas at the San Bernardino County Jail for general vehicle manslaughter charges while drunk on $100,000 bail.
The Rialto Police Station’s main accident investigation team is conducting an investigation and anyone who may have information about the incident can contact Traffic Sergeant Dan Smith at 909-644-6025. I stated.
