Running record settings with a powerful mouse tattoo are not asked to save the day again as a California police officer.
Tyler Ebel holds the state record for a single season of 4,494 rushing yards set at Ventura High in 2000, with the 5-foot-8 skateback starring in UCLA, rushing for over 100 yards on six sixes I quickly set a record for the freshman. A series of games, winning the national honors of the second team.
Three years after the Canadian Football League, Ebel became the Ventura County Sheriff’s Deputy. However, in 2022, an internal affairs investigation fired Ebel for “convicting repeated serious misconduct and severely violating the basic principles of law enforcement officers.”
Ebel was accused of pursuing and continuing his sexual relationship with Nastaza Schmidt, the prisoner in which he worked. The Sheriff’s Office referred his case to the California Committee on Standards and Training for Peace Officers, and Ebel surrendered his certification to an agency earlier this month.
Without certification, Ebel will not be able to serve as an officer of any state police agency, as the Ventura County star first reported.
Ventura County settled a federal civil rights lawsuit filed in 2023 by Schmidt and another woman by paying $49,999. The lawsuit accused Ebel of squeezing Schmidt on the relationship by pledging to help him minimize criminal charges.
Schmidt passed away two years ago, and her body was found on the lawn of the Thousand Oaks home after fleeing on foot from a self-storage facility where she and the two men were attempting to rob. The Ventura County Medical Examiner’s office concluded that 34-year-old Schmidt had died of a “potential cardiac arrest” and had a potentially fatal amount of methamphetamine in her system.
Schmidt already had a criminal history of robbery when he was arrested in 2020 and charged with identity theft, possession of drug equipment and possession of robbery tools. Ebel is one of the arrest officers and according to a lawsuit filed in federal court by Schmidt in January 2023, he gave her benefits while she was in jail and had sex when she was released. He hinted at paying him back.
On the day she was released on bail, Ebel picked her up in prison and took her to her grandparents’ house, where they had sex, the lawsuit alleged. Soon after, Ebel’s wife and two children traveled to Canada, and Schmidt stayed at home for more than two weeks, according to the lawsuit.

The lawsuit also alleges that Ebel assaulted Schmidt when she confronted her and her ex-boyfriend at her grandparents’ home, and that Ebel claimed she would get an abortion when she was pregnant with his child did.
Ebel was seen alongside Schmidt in the restaurant on December 30, 2021 by two non-working agents, causing an internal affairs investigation. Ebel resigned from the sheriff’s office a year later.
According to a lengthy interior report, Ebel told the detective “He’s going through a lot of emotional things.” I have typically made a lot of poor decisions, not my personality. I was looking for an escape and I found it with a friend and it was the wrong friend in the wrong place. And when I was in the right mindset, I did a lot of things I normally wouldn’t. ”
As a result, Ebel suffered a sudden fall. In 2006, he and former UCLA teammates Ricky Manning Jr. and Maurice Jones Drew were caught in an attack resulting from an attack on a man at a Denny restaurant in Ebel and charged with felony assault But the judge downgraded it. To a misdemeanor, and the charges ultimately fell due to insufficient evidence.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the three allegedly harassed a man who works at a laptop computer in a restaurant. “The group started by commenting that the victim looked like a nerd or nerd,” said LAPD Det. Robert Lewis told reporters.
The victim asked the group to stop and complained to Denny’s manager before someone in the group punched him in the face. According to Lewis, he was punched and kicked until he lost consciousness.
The incident occurred three weeks after Jones Drew was drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars. He was not charged and went on to a nine-year NFL career in 2011, including three Pro Bowl appearances and full-scale recognition.
Defensive back Manning Jr. had received a $21 million contract offer from the Chicago Bears a few days ago. He signed the contract, and months later he admitted that there was no conflict over felony assault and was sentenced to three years of probation, one year of anger management counseling and 100 hours of community service.
Ebell wasn’t considered big enough for the NFL, but his career ended after leading CFL’s Edmonton Eskimos for 1,318 yards in 2007, after a year later his Achilles tendon rupture. He returned to his hometown, where at age 14 he sat at the Hell’s Angels hangout for that powerful mouse tattoo. I became a peace officer.
