President Donald Trump and billionaire Elon Musk separately supported Ohio governor and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy on Monday.
Ramaswamy, who faced Trump in the 2024 GOP presidential primary, announced his candidacy early Monday to replace Republican Gov. Mike DeWine, who was term-limited in the 2026 election.
Trump announced his support in a social post on the truth about social media platforms.

“Vivek Ramaswamy is running for governor of Ohio’s great state. I know him well and competed with him. He’s special,” Trump wrote.
“He’s young, strong and clever! Vivek is also a very good person who really loves our country,” he continued. “He has become the great governor of Ohio and never let you down and has my full and full support!”
Musk, a senior Trump adviser, offered Ramaswamy approval after a while.

“Good luck, you have my full support!” Musk responded to Ramaswamy in a post on X.
Ramaswamy officially declared his candidacy during a Monday rally in his hometown of Cincinnati.
“I will bring Ohio to American excellence,” Ramaswamy told the crowd.

“Does that sound unrealistic? Is it not?” he said. “In fact, it wasn’t long ago that Ohio was in that state. Today, young people on the internet are teasing something by saying, ‘It’s so Ohio’. But less than a century later, people weren’t making fun of Ohio, so they wanted to be Ohio. ”
Ramaswamy, 39, dropped out of the 2024 Republican presidential nomination race to support Trump and become representative of the current president.
