New FBI Director Kash Patel was sworn on Monday as the head of two separate Department of Justice agencies and representing alcohol, cigarettes, firearms and explosives (ATFs).

Patel was pledged to lead the ATF after taking the oath to lead the FBI following a controversial confirmation process that Democrats are on the verge of lack of management experience and other claims.
In response to the news, US Congressman Robin Kelly (D-Ill) called Patel “a puppet in the businessless gun lobby leading the FBI or ATF.”
Republicans have long pushed back the ATF rules regulating access to firearms.
The National Rifle Association (NRA) said Patel’s appointment was the first to reform the agency.
“For too long, the ATF has focused on how to manipulate federal law to limit the rights of Americans to comply with the law,” the group writes about X. . ”

President Donald Trump has not made clear what his plan is for the ATF, which was the target of Republicans in Congress. The agency is accused of enforcing state laws regarding firearms, explosives and arson.
He is also accused of federal firearm dealer licensing, tracking guns used in crimes, and intelligence analysis in filming investigations.
On Sunday, Trump nominated former US Secret Service agent Dan Bongino as deputy director of the FBI.
Patel called Bongino’s appointment “a tremendous news about the future of law enforcement and the American justice!”

“His leadership, integrity and deep commitment to justice have made it an ideal choice to help the FBI lead at this critical time,” he said. “He’s a police officer.”
