The high-pressure ridge will bring another round of vast average temperatures and surged Santa Ana winds to Southern California on Thursday, bringing a storm system that is likely to rain this weekend.
The valley afternoon highs are expected to climb to the ’80s, perhaps nearly 90, with forecasts from the ’80s to mid-80s for coastal areas of Los Angeles and Ventura counties.
The Santa Ana winds are also expected to peak at 30-50 mph on Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.
Despite warm weather and gust of wind, weather services have announced only “minimum fire risk” thanks to recent rain.

“In the end, this is the last day of warm weather before we see some big changes happening in our forecast. A big change in terms of cooldown,” said KTLA’s Kirk Hawkins.
A significant drop in temperature and an increase in cloud cover is expected to begin on Friday.
“The series of storms could rain from Friday night until the weekend and will move around the area until next week,” the Weather Service said in its forecast.

Although rain accumulation from multiple storms is expected to remain fairly low, “we could see the rain start falling,” Kirk said.
The best chance of rain will come on Sunday. “It’s likely that rain is likely, but it’s not a very rain maker,” the Meteorological Bureau said, predicting less than a third.
