President Donald Trump played two more roles in his administration late Thursday by announcing who will serve as Deputy Secretary of Commerce or Secretary of the Navy.
Trump chose former Virginia Legislature candidate Hankao, and served as Deputy Secretary of Science, Paul Daval, under the next Secretary of the Navy, under the former Energy Secretary, as Deputy Secretary of Commerce.
The president congratulated the man, a Navy veteran and a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy with separate true social posts Thursday night.

Cao, who came to the US in 1975 after his family fled Vietnam shortly before Saigon’s collapse, recently ran for Virginia Senate against Senator Tim Kane during the 2024 election, losing to the incumbent Senator. He was supported by Trump during the race.
He retired from the Navy as captain 25 years later in Special Operations. Although the CAO was in combat roles, he also worked for the Pentagon, and was assigned to balance the Navy’s $140 billion budget.
“Hang is an embodiment of America’s dream. As a refugee to our great nation, Hang tirelessly worked to be proud of the country that gave his family home. He went to our incredible US Naval Academy and later earned a Master’s degree in Physics. Trump wrote about the true society.
Cao thanked the president for choosing him in his X post and said, “Let’s get to work.”

Dubber, who worked for Trump’s Energy Department during his first term, spent years working as a submarine officer in the Navy and working in the Energy Department as the managing director of JP Morgan.
Trump said Daver will work with Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick to “restore American leadership in global commerce, trade and technology.”
“Paul served under my scientific and energy secretary and led the National Institute, which began as the Manhattan Project, helping to control semiconductors, AI, quantum, energy, and promote our fighting capabilities.”

The president still has to announce his picks for hundreds of small positions, but he has almost finished his cabinet. Of the 22 nominations that require confirmation from the Senate, 19 were confirmed as of Thursday.
