A man was arrested after leading deputies in high speed pursuits in a stolen vehicle in San Bernardino County.
The suspect was identified as 27-year-old Joel Maldonado from Las Vegas, Nevada, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Office.
On February 25, lawmakers responded to reports of stolen vehicles seen near Seneca and Hervedo Roads in Victorville before 4pm.
When authorities tried to pull Maldonado, he said he refused to stop and led the pursuit.
During the pursuit, authorities said they were at risk and crashed at high speed before hitting another vehicle at the intersection of Main Street and Highway 395 in Hesperia.
Maldonado got out of the car and began fleeing on foot before eventually being arrested. The driver who crashed the suspect was taken to the hospital for treatment.
Maldonado was arrested for avoiding a grand larceny, hit and run, and police. No further details have been made as the incident remains under investigation.
