A few months after the outbreak of war between Russia and Ukraine, then-President Joe Biden made a fiery private call with Ukrainian President Voldymi Zelensky.
“Biden was barely finished telling Zelensky that Zelensky had just greenlighted another $1 billion in US military aid to Ukraine. According to an NBC report released in November 2022, Biden and Zelensky shared it.
“Biden has lost his temper, people familiar with the phone said. The American people are very generous, and his administration and the US military worked hard to help Ukraine, he said, he could speak up and Zelensky could show a little more gratitude,” the report continued.
The tense exchange reported on the phone came months after Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022. After the call, the pair’s relationship “improved”.

Fox News Digital contacted Biden’s office on Sunday morning for additional comments about the 2022 call, but did not receive a reply immediately.
Reports resurfaced over the weekend following a fiery meeting between President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance Zelenskyy. This includes a VP who has been grateful for the US support for years, and Trump is asking Zelenskyy to leave the White House.
The White House meeting was tense in about 10 minutes after Vance said peace would reach between Russia and Ukraine through US diplomatic efforts.

“I think it would be rude to see the President in his respect and come to the oval office to try and litigate this in front of the American media,” Vance told Zelensky. “Right now, you’re having a talent issue, so you’re forcing the draft to the frontline. We need to be grateful to bring it to the President and bring it to this country.”
“Have you ever been to Ukraine to say the problems we have?” Zelenskyy shot back.

“I’ve actually seen the stories and I know what happens brings people around. You bring them on a propaganda tour,” Vance continued. “President, do you agree that there is a problem with bringing people into your army? And do you think you’re respectful to come to the elliptical offices of the United States and attack an administration that is trying to prevent the destruction of your country?”

Zelenskyy continues, “Everyone has problems even you,” and the United States will feel war “in the future.”

“Don’t tell us what we’re trying to feel,” Trump shot Zelensky.
“You’re living and gambling for millions of people,” Trump added at another point during the exchange. “You’re gambling with World War II. You’re gambling with World War II. And what you’re doing is very rude to this country, to this country.”

Vance stepped in and asked Zelensky if “this entire meeting once said thank you.” He also added that Zelensky should “go to Pennsylvania and campaign for the opposition in October” and “providing a thank you to the president who is trying to save the United States and your country.”
According to the Diplomatic Council, Parliament has allocated $175 billion to aid Ukraine since 2022, but the amount the US has provided to Ukraine will vary depending on what is considered aid.
According to the Kiel Institute, the total support for Ukraine from January 2022 to December 2024 totaled around $138.7 billion. Fox Digital reported previously that the US has donated $119.7 billion over the same period.
Trump went on to say to Zelensky, saying, “The problem is, I strengthened you being a tough guy, and I don’t think you’ll be a tough guy without America.”

“And your people are very brave. But you’re going to make a deal or we’re going out. And if we go out, you’ll fight it. I don’t think it’ll be pretty, but you’ll fight it. But you won’t sign that deal. But you’re in a better position.
Zelenskyy soon left the White House. The Trump administration cancelled a planned press conference with Zelensky later that day, but a planned speaking event featuring Ukrainian leaders at a Washington, DC-based think tank, was cancelled.
Zelenskyy joined Fox News’ Bret Baier on Friday evening for an exclusive interview. US leaders, including Secretary of State Marco Rubio, called on Zelensky to apologise for the oval office meeting, but the Ukrainian president called during an interview with Baier, adding that he respects Trump and the United States.

“I am very grateful to the Americans for all your support. You’ve done a lot. I am grateful to President Trump and Congress for their bipartisan support,” he replied when asked about his apology. “You helped us from the start. During three years of full-scale invasion, you helped us survive.”
“No, I respect the President and I respect the people of America. …I think we have to be very open and very honest. I don’t know if we’ve done anything wrong.”

Zelenskyy traveled to the UK over the weekend to meet British Prime Minister Kiel Starmer. He told local media he took the reins to Trump and French President Emmanuel Macron and Britain and France’s presidents, and to create a plan of peace that will ultimately be presented to the United States.
European leaders are scheduled to travel to London on Sunday to discuss the peace plan further.
