The owl was rescued Sunday morning after being stuck online at a country club in Raverne.
According to the Raverne Fire Station, residents involved discovered the animal at 9:30 a.m. on March 2nd and called the city’s police station.
Firefighters responded to a report of the animals suffering at the former Sierra La Verne Country Club around 10:44am.
Firefighters reached for wildlife experts, including the California Department of Fish and Wildlife and San Dimas Raptor Rescue, when an animal caught in the net was caught upside down in the air 50 feet upside down.
“This rescue was made possible through the teamwork and prompt action of our community, first responders and local wildlife experts. This reminds us that compassion and cooperation can make all the difference,” the fire department said in a social media post.
With the help of the fire department and the city of Raverne public works, the owls were safely transported to the ground using cherry picker baskets.
Firefighters helped to cut the remaining nets from the owl’s claws and wings and were placed in the care of the Sandimas Raptor Rescue, who was evaluated for injuries.
