Former CEO of World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), Linda McMahon has been sworn in to serve as the next Secretary of Education under President Donald Trump.
The Senate confirmed McMahon to lead the Department of Education from 1951-45 on Monday evening.
McMahon is sworn in shortly after the vote and will begin her official duties Tuesday morning.
“President Trump is deeply grateful for his trust in serving his Cabinet as Superintendent, and is ready to lead the department during this transformative time and accept the challenges of improving the education system for over 100 million children and university students,” McMahon said in a statement after it was confirmed.

“Education is a matter of determining our national success and preparing American workers to win the future. Every decision made in the faculty is driven by a commitment to supporting meaningful learning and empowering our most important stakeholders, students, families and teachers,” added McMahon. “We will allow states and districts to do more about working on the ground for students, instead of the Washington, D.C. bureaucratic dict order.”
Trump said he wanted to close the education sector, and McMahon said in a letter to Democrats that she supports his position on the issue.

“President Trump believes that Washington’s bureaucracy should be abolished so that education can be returned to the states it belongs to. I sincerely support and agree with this mission,” McMahon wrote in February to members of the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (help).
McMahon was former head of WWE and founded it with her husband Vince McMahon.

The former WWE mogul launched two separate Senate bids in Connecticut in 2010 and 2012, but lost both general elections to Democratic candidates.

The secretary also served as administrator for the Small Business Association (SBA) during Trump’s first term.
