The king of Los Angeles apologised for selling a scarf made in Türkiye on the Armenian Heritage night last month.
“We, our partners at LA Kings and Rank & Rally, would like to sincerely apologise to all our friends in the Armenian community. “We source, stock and sell products from a selection list of manufacturers officially licensed by the league. We were unaware of the production origins of the items.”
The Los Angeles region has the largest Armenian community outside of Armenia. Nearby Armenia and Turkey are historic enemies attributed to the deaths of 1.5 million Armenians in genocide, deportation and forced marching that began in Ottoman Turkey in 1915. Historians see the event widely as a genocide. Turkey vehemently rejects the label.
Kings offers a full refund or mail order for those who purchase scarves from TeamLust.
Armenian Heritage Night is February 22nd and is an annual event.
