According to a letter obtained by Fox News Digital, Fox: Linda McMahon is informing all employees that in his first act as Secretary of Education, he will lead a “critical final mission” to send back the “critical final mission” back to the state.
McMahon wrote to all Department of Education (DOED) employees Monday evening to inform a “new era of accountability” where President Donald Trump oversees his promise to dissolve the department.
“Our job is to respect the will of the Americans and the President they have chosen. They have entrusted us with achieving the elimination of bureaucratic bloat here at the Department of Education.
The secretary said that rebuilding the department would “deeply affect” staff, budgets and agency operations.

Under McMahon, according to her letter, the department works from three basic convictions. Parents are the primary decision-makers in the education of their children, and taxpayer-funded education should focus on “meaningful learning of mathematics, reading, science and history – not divisive DEI programs, gender ideology” and on the path to making the path of well wells to meet the needs of post-secondary careers.
“By removing red tape and bureaucratic barriers, parents can make the best educational choices for their children,” reads the letter. “The effective transfer of education surveillance to the state means community autonomy. Teachers also benefit from classroom micromanagement and allow them to return to basics.”
Trump says his goal is to “close” what he does “quickly,” and in the process he wants McMahon to “get himself out of work.”
“My vision is consistent with the President’s vision: to bring education back to the state and enable all parents to choose a superior education for their children,” McMahon told employees Monday evening. “The role of the Department of Education in this new era of accountability is to restore the legitimate role of state oversight in education and end the oversight from Washington.”

The Trump administration will need Congressional approval to eliminate the federal agency, and McMahon said it will partner with the legislative arm “to implement the “best path” to meet the expectations of the president and Americans.”

“As I have learned many times throughout my career, confusion leads to innovation and results,” the secretary wrote. “We must start thinking as an overhaul of our final mission in the sector, which is our last chance to restore the culture of freedom and excellence that has made American education great.”
The letter also praised recent orders by the Trump administration to eliminate critical race theory (CRT), gender ideology, and diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) while “restoring patriotic education and citizenship” in schools.
“This review of our program has been delayed for a long time,” McMahon said. “The Department of Education is not working as intended. Since its establishment in 1980, taxpayers have entrusted more than $1 trillion to the department, but students’ outcomes have consistently suffered.”

“American education can be the greatest in the world. It should not be corrupted by political ideology, special interests, or unfair discrimination. Parents, teachers and students deserve better value,” McMahon wrote in the letter.
The secretary, who was confirmed by the Senate on Monday evening, encouraged employees to participate in the mission.

“This is the last and unforgettable opportunity for future generations of students to provide public services,” she said. “We hope that once our ultimate mission is complete, we can say that we left American education stronger, stronger and with hope for the future.”
Fox News Digital reached out to the White House for further comment but did not immediately respond.
