Los Angeles County phones and other wireless devices all rang out Monday night, warning users of unusual missing person messages.
Please read the following for the message entitled “Public Safety Warning.”
“Mannas Chivzoll Nwigwe, an 81-year-old male African American who has been missing since this morning.”
Phone users reported receiving an alert around 8pm, but clicking or pressing the message did not move them to further information.
Lady Los Angeles County was posted to X at 8:18pm to confirm that a message with a “wireless emergency warning” would be sent around the county-wide area around 8pm to report missing people.
“For inquiries, please contact the city of Glendale,” X-Post said.
KTLA contacted the Glendale Police Station, which will close its office at 5pm, but the watch commander on duty was able to confirm reports of missing persons.
Additionally, the watch commander said Nwaigwe had dementia and that he had no suspected foul play in his loss.
The department did not immediately provide an explanation as to why the alert was sent to users across the county.
