Democrats are planning a widespread protest in President Donald Trump’s speech to Congress on Tuesday night, but party members are debating how far they should go.
Many far-left Democrats claim big confusion at the event, ranging from a complete strike to using noise makers to drown Trump’s speech, Axios reported Tuesday. Some of the milder ideas reportedly include carrying egg cartons to emphasize costs, carrying protest signs, and adjusting outfits.
“What we all agree with is that this isn’t business as usual and we want to find a way to express our anger,” one lawmaker told Axios.
Other Democrats discussed plans to jump out of the room if Trump crossed certain rhetorical boundaries, such as discussing young people with gender disruption.

Democrat leaders reportedly encouraged members of this week’s closing door meeting to keep the protests public, but many argue that the major explosion will only help Trump.
“There are definitely a lot of members who really want Democrats to be really confused and there are some who feel that it’s just a play in his hands,” another lawmaker told the outlet.

Protests in coalition speeches and other major presidential cases have become more common and more serious in recent years. Trump’s Tuesday speech is not technically a union’s address, but it follows essentially the same format.
The President is scheduled to speak before all members of Congress at EST on Tuesday at 9pm.

“President Trump has achieved more in just one month than the president in four years. The American Dream is on track to renew,” Leavitt said. “In a joint speech to Congress, President Trump celebrates his very successful first month, outlining his bold, ambitious, common sense vision for the future.”
