A major Pacific storm is moving towards Southern California, potentially leading to “weak tornadoes” in the area, weather officials said.
“A stronger storm system will affect the area from tonight until Thursday night.
The National Weather Service (NWS) said in its forecast discussion Tuesday morning.
“We are closely monitoring the remote potential of several severe storms, including small, short, weak tornadoes,” the NWS said.
Rain is expected to begin Wednesday morning along the Central Coast from Wednesday morning and spread south and east until the afternoon.

The heaviest shower could arrive on Thursday with the “second storm of the storm,” according to the NWS.
The system is expected to bring 1-3 inches of rain into the coastal and valley areas by the time it leaves the area on Thursday or Friday. “The mountains are seeing 6 to 12 inches of new snow,” said Kirk Hawkins of Ktla.
The NWS also seeks a 10-20% chance of burning potential thunderstorms and serious flooding and scar debris.
As we head towards the weekend, dry, sunny skies are expected to return, but more rain is predicted.
“There are two possibilities for rain next week,” Kirk said.
