President Donald Trump promises to “make America affordable again”

President Donald Trump has pledged to “make America affordable again” by reducing energy costs during his joint speech to Congress on Tuesday night.

Speaking at the Capitol, Trump said he would “fight every day” to “reverse” the economic damages he had denounced for his predecessor, former President Joe Biden.

“Joe Biden has especially made egg prices out of control,” Trump said. “The price of eggs is out of control and we’re working hard to get it back.”

“The main focus of our fight to beat inflation is to rapidly cut energy costs,” the president continued. “Previous managers have cut the number of new oil and gas leases by 95%, stopped construction of pipelines and closed more than 100 power plants. They are now opening many of these power plants.”

“We have more liquid gold under our feet than any other country on the planet,” Trump said. “And now I fully allow the most talented team ever built to go and get it. It’s called drills, babies, drills.”

Energy prices cuts were one of the promises of many Trump campaigns before he was elected in November. At a rally at Pennsylvania State University, Trump vowed to lift the suspension of the natural gas export terminal that liquefied the United States.

“From the first day of my new administration, I will end Kamala Harris’ war with Pennsylvania’s energy,” Trump told the crowd on October 26th.

Trump also promised his supporters that his energy bill would take office within his first 12 months to be halfway. Before he was confirmed, Energy Secretary Chris Wright previously stated that reducing the cost of energy was one of his main objectives.

“Today’s federal government is too easy to stop a project, making it extremely difficult to start and complete a project,” Wright said in January. “This makes energy more expensive and less reliable. President Trump is working to cut energy costs, and to do so, he must prioritize building the infrastructure needed to cut deficits, enable investment in the private sector, and make energy more affordable for families and businesses.”

Breanne Deppisch of Fox News contributed to this report.
