Denver (KDVR) – A 14-year-old boy who went missing seven years ago is just outside Denver, and two people have been arrested for luring.

Abdul Aziz Khan was reportedly lured from Atlanta in 2017 by his non-obligatory mother. He was located safely with another younger child.

In late February, deputies from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office were called to a Highland Ranch home, about 20 miles south of Denver, to investigate an ongoing reported robbery.

The homeowner reported seeing two people in an empty house for sale on security cameras.

When deputies arrived at the house they found two children in a vehicle parked in the driveway. The two suspects, a man and a woman, left the house and told their agents they were involved in a real estate agent. However, the sheriff’s office said they began to unravel their stories as they worked four hours to identify the suspect.

The woman was identified as 40-year-old Rabia Khalid, who had an aggressive warrant for the invitation. The man was identified as 42-year-old Elliot Blake Bourgeois.

Ravia Khalid, 40, was arrested on several charges in Douglas County, including two attempts. As a non-obligatory parent, she is accused of taking her son in 2017. The detective was also able to identify the teenager found in the vehicle as Khan.

Khalid was previously accused of accusing Khan of Atlanta in November 2017. Authorities said she was a non-compulsory parent at the time, and a warrant was issued when she was arrested in 2020.

The US Former S-Service worked to locate Khalid and Khan.

Aziz and his second child whose identity is not shared by the authorities were taken to protective custody.

Khalid and the bourgeois were booked at the Douglas County Jail on charges of twice-invitation, forgery, identity theft, providing false information to authorities and trespassing. Their bonds were each set at $1 million.

“Our deputies responded to what initially seemed like a daily call for trespass, but through abrupt attention to detail and tenacity, they revealed the truth. The ability to recognize the contradictions of the suspect’s narrative and follow the lead even if the situation seemed unclear, ultimately led to a safe recovery for a child who had been missing for seven years. We were unable to be proud of the work our team did. The incident underscored the officer’s commitment to seek justice and protecting the most vulnerable. Douglas County Sheriff Darren Weekly said:

Khan’s family also said, “We are overwhelmed by the joy that Aziz has finally been discovered. We would like to thank you for your support over the past seven years, and we would especially like to recognize the Douglas County Sheriff’s office for the exceptional work to resolve this case.

The investigation is still underway. Anyone with information will be asked to contact Metro Denver Crime Stopper at 720-913-7867.
