Al Green’s accusation resolution divides the home gop after Trump’s speech

Competing resolutions denounce D-TX’s Rep. Al Green caused some division within House GOP on Wednesday.

Texas Democrats were kicked out of President Donald Trump’s speech at a joint Congressional meeting Tuesday night after repeatedly trying to pause their speeches minutes after the speech began.

The resolution punishing Green for the incident is likely to pass even within the homes of a thin majority of Republicans. However, different ideas about how to get there have led to complaints among the GOP facts in another home.

Rep. Dan Newhouse, a moderate Republican, introduced his own resolution on Wednesday to condemn Green. “A text provided to Fox News Digital said Green repeatedly violated the House’s regular courtesy rules during President Donald J. Trump’s joint speech to Congress.”

In particular, Newhouse is one of two House Republicans left in Congress who voted Trump for bluff each during the January 6, 2021 Capitol riots.

Newhouse’s introduction comes after House Freedom Caucus announced that it would submit the law to condemn Green, led by R-Ariz’s Rep. Eli Crane.

Meanwhile, R-Texas MP Troy Nehls began collecting signatures for the rebuttal solution against Green around 9am on Wednesday.

The NEHLS bill currently has 24 Republican co-sponsors, including members of House Freedom Caucus.

However, two other sources familiar with the debate told Fox News Digital that the Newhouse resolution is most likely to be addressed by House GOP leadership.

“It’s just a jarring to think leadership runs when leadership runs from one of the remaining two GOP members who voted for President Trump,” a senior aide at House GOP said.

“It would be obvious play to help protect him from another close major challenge,” the aide said.

However, the second senior house GOP Aide countered to Fox News Digital that House GOP leadership was informing him Tuesday night that he knew Newhouse’s plans.

Newhouse contacted R-LA’s Mike Johnson to the speaker shortly after Trump’s speech, and both agreed to the need to blame Green, the second aide said.

The senior aide said there are “better individuals” to lead the resolution given the level of respect given to Newhouse by fellow House Republicans.

They also noted that Newhouse has already dodged a tough major challenge from his right, and that Trump likes the winner, and that Newhouse praised Trump after Tuesday night’s speech.

Green told the Huffington Post he was “guilty” after reading the text of the Newhouse resolution on his side.

The House GOP leader has already shown that he will consider punishing Green for his explosion.

Greene remained rebellious when he stopped to talk to the White House pool on the ground floor of the U.S. Capitol after being dumped from the room of the second-floor house Trump was talking to on Tuesday night.

“I am happy to suffer any punishment that I have available. I have not told anyone, I will not punish me. I have said I will accept the punishment,” Green said, according to a White House Pool report.

“But it’s worth letting people know that there are some of us who are willing to stand up to this president’s desire to cut Medicaid, Medicare and Social Security.”

Fox News Digital reached out to Johnson and Green’s offices for comment.
