A murder detective, along with the family and friends of a 14-year-old girl strangled to death in Los Angeles’ Boyle Heights area more than 19 years ago, begged the public to resolve her murder on Tuesday.
The body of Emmery Munoz was found on January 25, 2006 in the business’s loading dock area in the 1500 block of Mirasol Street. The Los Angeles Police Department shared the latest information on the investigation.
The young teen was last alive on Friday, January 20, 2006 in East Los Angeles’ City Terrace area.
“This investigation lasted for 19 years and detectives were unable to do so.
Police said Tuesday.
Emmalie Munoz can be seen in images shared by the Los Angeles Police Department.
The motive for the “meaningless murder” is also unknown, and no suspects have been identified.
“The pain is the same as yesterday,” Emmalie’s mother, Maria Meziah, told LAIST in a 2023 interview. “I hope someone comes now and someone moves forward. Maybe they were afraid to talk at the time.”
Laist also took a deeper look at the details surrounding Emmery’s murder to create a podcast entitled “Party Crew: The Untold Story.”
Investigators are once again asking anyone with information that LAPD murder detectives Torres, Meneseth, or Sherman should contact 213-486-8700 or call 877-527-3247. Those who prefer to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers by dialing 800-222-8477 or visit the lacrimestoppers.org website.
