The Trump administration’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) said Wednesday that several grants for transgender experiments on animals have been cancelled, and pilot programs to audit federal agencies with unused credit cards “a lot of shade spending is happening.”
The Cost Reduction Group said the National Institutes of Health (NIH) has cancelled seven grants. In part, $33,000 tested “feminization hormone therapy in male rats,” including $532,000 to “exploring the effectiveness of cross-sex testosterone therapy using a mouse model.”

“Many of these cases involve mice, rats and monkeys. They are surgically amputated and undergo hormonal therapy that mimics the gender transition from female to male or male to female, Goodman said at the hearing.
In addition to the cancelled grants, Doge said the pilot program, which audits federal agencies for unused, unused credit cards, has expanded to 16 more agencies.
Two weeks later, 146,000 credit cards were deactivated.
“As a reminder, when the audit began, there were around 4.6 million active cards/accounts.

Musk said most government-issued credit card limits are up to $10,000.
“There are almost twice as many credit/purchase cards as government people, and the limit is $10,000! There’s a lot of shady spending going on,” he said.
