Republican Louisiana Rep. Clay Higgins said at a House Oversight Committee hearing on the Sanctuary City that President Donald Trump has revealed the impact of the Biden administration’s illegal immigration policies and the sanctuary policies across the United States.
Testimony during the hearing included New York City Mayor Eric Adams, Boston Mayor Michelle Wu, Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson and Denver Mayor Mike Johnston.
Higgins said “Americans are tired of the betrayal of this oath,” and the mayor said he would “take responsibility” for supporting a sanctuary policy that would work with the ice to prohibit or restrict law enforcement from deporting dangerous criminal and criminal immigrants.
Higgins pointed to the incident of Welsey Hayes, a young husband and father of Louisiana. He was killed by illegal immigrants in Texas, leaving behind his wife, Olivia Hayes, and daughter, Anne Marie.

“The policies of these mayors and our former presidents will have real results,” Higgins said. “I have a family here today, the chairman who has lost their beautiful loved one.”

“This young man was killed by illegal Texas immigrants who would never have been in our country,” he continued. “He will never come here to raise his daughter Anne Marie and to love, cherish, respect and support his beautiful wife, Olivia.”
Speaking up, Higgins targeted the mayor and said, “You are responsible for taking responsibility not only for the mayor, the community and citizens you have vowed to serve, but also the entire Republic.”

“What you want to talk to kids is the separation of kids,” he said. “If you commit a felony in America, you will be arrested, charged, convicted, and imprisoned. You can expect to be separated from your child. But let me say that there is a sunset in that separation. You can return to your family. There is.”

“Three months ago, we were at the end of four years of tails, and millions of illegals came to our country. [it] It was out of control. The only thing that has happened since then was the election in November. And now we are not pulling back the curtains, we tore the curtains off the rod. We have made it clear to the US how quickly we can hold a border if there are executives who are willing to enforce the law. Welcome to that. ”
