Elon Musk met with a small group of House Republicans on Wednesday evening, where he discussed the cost-cutting path in his quest to find as much as $1 trillion in government waste, people familiar with the debate told Fox News Digital.
“The executive dozi team is confident and thinks they can get $1 trillion,” one lawmaker, familiar with the conference, told Fox News Digital. “Now we’re, right? And he’s admitted we’re making mistakes, but we’re going to fix them very quickly.”
GOP lawmakers said some concerns have been raised about Musk’s detailed information about whether other government agencies, such as the Treasury, “has the bandwidth.” “And he says, ‘We’re going to help them,'” the lawmaker said.
Musk met with the House Doge Subcommittee, led by R-Ga Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, for about 45 minutes of a wider meeting with the House GOP meeting, according to multiple sources.

Several people said they pointed to areas where masks were removed from federal benefits like Social Security, but where taxpayer dollars could be more efficient, such as an audit in which taxpayer dollars had taxpayer dollars due to unemployment and other programs.
“A lot of this is a cross-reference to the database, making sure they’re talking to each other,” Rep. Michael Cloud, R-Texas, a member of the subcommittee, told Fox News Digital.
Two lawmakers at the meeting said the idea of a Congressional retirement package floats as another way to revive excessive government spending as Republicans and Democrats fight to give President Donald Trump what they would spend less than Congressional allocation.
Retirement agencies are granted to Congress to allow cancellation of planned government spending.

It’s also in a special case where the Senate only needs 51 votes to pass the bill, rather than 60. That means Senate Republicans can pass it without democratic support.
Greene confirmed the sit-in with reporters but did not mention the talk of Congressional expenditure authority.
“We had a very long meeting. I learned a lot of valuable information alone with Elon Musk and my Doge committee with his team. The collaboration is great and it needs to happen,” Green said.

It was his advisor Steve Davis who also attended both Musk’s house meetings, people told Fox News Digital.
After the small meeting, Musk had a broader discussion with House Republicans, where he spoke for about 15 minutes before asking questions.
“What we were doing was to get deeper insight into what Elon Musk is doing, what we can strategy with him, how we can coordinate what we’re doing,” R-Texas Rep. Brandon Gill, who is on Doge’s subcommittee, told reporters.
R-FLA Rep. Mike Harudopolos told Fox News Digital that “were systematically not checked to ensure that taxpayer dollars are used correctly.”
He said that Musk has not discussed other fiscal battles going on in Congress, and that Musk is “not only trying to outline what they are finding in a very short time, but how unaccountable is in the government’s operating system.”
“It made me laugh and at the same time made me sick,” R-Pa. Rep. Dan Moother told Fox News Digital. “The level of waste and what they find is amazing.”
Rep. Ralph Norman, Rs.C. said the mask was “just starting out.”
“He says, ‘I’m researching and finding out what you really can’t argue.’ He said he was making a mistake, but his mission is to make clear where our taxes are,” Norman said.

It comes as some House Republicans face controversial city halls and demonstrations related to their hometown musk and doji. GOP lawmakers previously shared frustration with Fox News Digital.
R-Wis. Rep. Derrick Van Orden told reporters that he aired similar concerns at the closure meeting. Musks had embraced those issues, he added.

“I especially spoke to Elon about this. There are veterans and farmers. So there’s a lot of anxiety right now because people don’t understand what’s going on,” Van Olden said. “And I have expressed my concerns in the veteran community very clearly, and Musk made it clear that we are making sure there is no deterioration in the veteran interests they earned.”
A series of house meetings for masks came after talking to Senate Republicans in a similar closed environment.
