Los Angeles (March 5, 2025) – KTLA-TV, Southern California’s most monitored local television station, today announced the signing of Melvin Robert as Moring News Entertainment Anchor/Reporter. Robert will take on his new on-air duties, starting the week of March 17th.

Emmy-winning host, writer and producer, Robert brings extensive experience in entertainment and local news spaces to his new role at KTLA. He was recently a weekend co-host with Extra and Anchor Senior Correspondent. He is a native of Southern California, born and raised in Inglewood, and began his career as an intern at KTLA in the summer of 2000 before his senior year at Loyola High School. He then returned to the station as a regular cultural/lifestyle contributor from 2016 to 2018. Robert has hosted multiple local and national red carpet shows, conducted numerous one-on-one celebrity interviews, and is well-connected and respected in the entertainment and news industries.

“I am happy and humbled to join the KTLA 5 family,” Robert said. “This show has such an iconic legacy and I can’t wait to work with the many people I love, respect and admire. I have a deep and deep belief in the power of connection and the power of change, so I’m held to unite us all. That’s what morning television is, and that’s all about art, and it brings us all together and gives us insight into our shared humanity. I can’t wait to start with every morning with a Southern California audience. I’m committed to winning their trust.”

Robert will provide daily entertainment and pop culture segments to KTLA Morning News, co-hosting station red carpet specials and co-hosting a variety of special productions, contributing to community-oriented segments and specials throughout the year.

“We’ve been working hard to get into the world,” said Erika Hill Rodriguez, KTLA 5 News Director. “We can’t wait for viewers to start their mornings with insight into the world of entertainment, and we can experience the love of the community, his lifelong home.”

“Melvin has a unique LA story. His love for the city and the fact that he started at KTLA makes him feel like he’s back home.”

KTLA 5. “Once again, our market-leading KTLA 5 News has strengthened its relationship with everything in Southern California by adding such sought-after homemade talent.”
