Police have arrested two men suspected of killing a good Samaritan who tried to stop stealing a neighbor’s catalytic converter in Inglewood, officials announced Friday.
The Inglewood Police Department said it was “valuable” aid from the community that successfully identified the two suspects, Wilbur Alberto Lavanares and Jose Christian Saravia Sanchez.
Officers ran a search warrant at a Kadahi motel on Thursday night, where they found Wilbur and Jose and arrested them.
“Both were booked at Inglewood Prison for the murder of Juan Miguel Sanchez,” the department said.
Juan was killed around 3:22am on February 25th, police said.
Authorities said at least one of the suspects fired and fatally shot him in the chest while Juan was trying to stop the theft of the catalytic converter.
This happened in the 1000 block of North Chester Avenue in Inglewood.
According to GoFundMe fundraisers, Juan was well known to his friends and family as Johnny.
The fundraiser raised funds for the funeral called Sanchez a “devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather and a precious friend to many.” His family told KTLA that he was recently promoted for work after helping out a Los Angeles fire service victim.
