Southern California may not have been much rain this season, but late arrivals in the rain will be a comeback this week.
A pair of storms will keep the area in rain and perhaps even snow from mountains with continuous systems. NBC4 meteorologist Shana Mendiola said the first storm appears to bring about modest rain, while the second one appears to bring about more.
“It’s going to take some time to get here,” she said. “…This is one of two storms we see in the week, and we’ve followed more after that.
The first storm will arrive overnight on Monday, Tuesday, with a wet morning commute.
“What you can expect is that the light rain over the widespread area keeps it a bit pessimistic,” Mendiola said. She added that so far the first storm does not appear to cause flooding.
The second storm is expected to arrive someday Wednesday through Thursday.
“The second one looks a little stronger,” Mendiola said.
Later storms will result in winter conditions, including temperature drops and the possibility of mountain snow. It is currently unknown which elevations will obtain fresh coatings of powder.
“Just to prepare, if you’re likely to forget, put your umbrella in your car later this week,” Mendiola said.
