EPA Deregulation Day
First on FOX: The Environmental Protection Agency announced “The Most Consequential Deregulation Day” in US history on Wednesday. The Biden administration’s Clean Power Plan 2.0 (cracked at the power plant) was placed in the chopping block.
“President Trump has committed to killing the Clean Power Plan in his first term, and we will now continue to build on that progress,” EPA administrator Lee Zeldin said in the announcement that he first obtained it by Fox News Digital. “In reconsidering Biden Harris’ rules for violating the Supreme Court case law, we are trying to ensure that all Americans follow the rule of law while providing access to reliable and affordable energy.”
The Biden administration completed the Clean Power Plan 2.0 in April 2024 and cracked down on existing and future fossil fuel-fired power plants as part of the previous administration’s sweeping climate agenda. The plan required existing coal-fired power plants and new Baseload natural gas-fired power plants to install carbon capture technology by 2032 in order to effectively eliminate carbon emissions by 2050.
