The 71-year-old woman, forced to spend the night in the large, sturdy Maria Mountains near the Colorado River, was in safety on Wednesday, authorities said.
He is reportedly identified only as a resident of Trona, 71.
Approximately five hours after her scheduled return, a friend of the hikers, who is involved, called authorities at the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office.
Just before 9pm that night, deputies at Colorado River Sheriff’s Station searched the area of the Powerline and Midland roads in an unedited area near Blythe. The weather conditions did not allow the use of helicopters, and while the agents deployed the drone, they were unable to find a woman.

“As the sun set approached, the hikers found themselves in less water and only a few hours from the car,” according to a news release from RCSO.
The next morning, on March 12, members of the Riverside Mountain Rescue Unit began their search and found a woman in good condition just before 8pm.

“She returned to the car without assistance without needing a doctor’s appointment,” the release said. “The hiker believed in her preparation for a successful outcome. She kept the water, didn’t hike after dark, and carried the right clothes and gear to stay overnight.”
The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office is always a reminder to outdoor enthusiasts.
Let someone know the planned route and expected return times. Carry plenty of water during the hike. Wear and package clothes suitable for changing conditions. Be prepared for unexpected circumstances, including an overnight stay.
