The University of Southern California hiked more than $3,000 next year on Wednesday, pushing the total cost of attendees to nearly $100,000.
For the 2025-2026 academic year, tuition fees are $3,356 more than the 2024-2025 cycle, according to the university attendance webpage.
In 2024, US News and World Reports ranked the prestigious Southern California campus as the most expensive school in the country.
More than two-thirds of undergraduate students receive some form of financial aid, according to the university, which includes needs-based grants, merit scholarships, loans and federal research programs.
“We understand that university education involves a huge resource for both students and families,” USC said on its website. “But the last thing we want is because of the cost of preventing students from registering with USC.”
This increase brings about a historic low confidence in higher education due to increased debt and deepening political disparities.
A 2023 Gallup survey showed that only 36% of Americans are confident in higher education, a sharp decline from 57% in 2015.
“There is a growing gap between Republicans and Democrats’ confidence in higher education,” the report said. “A previous Gallup polls found Democrats raised concerns about costs and Republicans registered concerns about politics in higher education.”
