President Donald Trump is reportedly expected to invoke the Alien Enemy Act of 1798 to pave the way for a massive, large deportation of illegal immigrants.
Trump campaigned to invoke wartime laws that allowed the president to detain or deport enemy Native people and citizens.

Trump is using the law to target violent Venezuelan Tren de Aragua gang members, The New York Post reportedly cited two sources close to the administration.

The law was invoked three times during the war of 1812 and the massive conflicts of World Wars I and II. During World War II, law was used to detain Japanese Americans.

The move will come in weeks for Trump’s second term, which saw 32,000 illegal immigrants arrested in the first 50 days.
During his campaign, Trump has pledged to use the law to fight members of the US Tren de Aragua (TDA). TDA is an international gang that committed a wave of violence across American cities, including taking over an entire apartment in Aurora, Colorado.
The group was recently designated as a foreign terrorist organization by the State Department.
“When I take office today, I announce that I will be running Operation Aurora at the federal level to promote the removal of these savage gangs, evoking the alien enemy law of 1798,” he said at an October rally. “Think about it, 1798.”
