The 40th La Marathon weekend announced by ASICS is scheduled to kick off this morning on Sunday, ahead of the marathon itself.
This year we welcome 26,000 runners from Dodgers Stadium to Star Boulevard
The La Marathon is one of the top four biggest marathons in the United States and is in the top ten around the world.
This year’s race has 93 legacy athletes who have completed the marathon for the past 39th consecutive year.
Meanwhile, Sunday’s race will be the first marathon of 40% of registered runners.
To warm things up on Saturdays, LA Kids Running will be held for children from kindergarten to seventh grade.
The race begins on Sunday at 6:30am at Dodger Stadium, passing through the city and passing most iconic landmarks such as Chinatown, City Hall, Little Tokio and Rodeo Drive before finishing on Century City’s Star Boulevard.
The Health and Fitness Pre-Race Expo at Dodger Stadium on Friday and Saturday features interactive exhibits, live entertainment and an official La Marathon merchandise store.
It is also a place where runners pick up bibs and registration information.
The public is intended to check out this year’s new “Community Corner” to practice intention building, chat with mental wellbeing experts, and gather practices on how to make a positive impact within the community.
This year, following the wildfires in January, ASICS has created a limited edition LA40 shoe charm that each runner will receive when picking up a bib.
