Los Angeles County is offering a $25,000 reward to help resolve a 2019 shooting death in the Westmont area of South Los Angeles, authorities announced Friday.
Corey Pickett, 42, was shot at 11:30pm on July 12, 2019, outside the home in the 1000 block of West 94th Avenue at 11:30pm, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office.
Pickett and his family friends were praising their friend’s new car when the dark-colored sedan pulled up in front of the house.
The car stopped and the man left the passenger side. He then fires at the duo before escaping the scene.
A family friend survived the attack.
“The pain of not knowing who did this continues to leave a wasteful blank in the lives of our mother, his life partner, his two 25-year-old daughters, our family and all of his friends,” Pickett’s mother said at a press conference Friday morning. “Together we can respect Corey’s memory and prevent other families from enduring this kind of imaginative pain.”
Anyone with information was urged to call the Sheriff’s Murder Bureau at 323-890-5500 or Crime Stoppers
800-222-8477.
