The threat of violence prompts lockdowns at Pasadena Hospital. Suspicion of being arrested

The suspect threatened violence against Pasadena Hospital and sent the facility to lockdown Friday night.

Pasadena police responded to Huntington Hospital in Pasadena, where the facility, particularly the emergency room area, was closed for hours.

A city spokesperson said the suspect was admitted to the hospital as a patient earlier in the day. After the man was discharged from the hospital, he reportedly called for a threat to the hospital around 2pm. The motivation behind the threat remains unknown.

Authorities did not release details, but confirmed that the incident was a legitimate threat and not a swatting case.

“Swatting” involves making misleading threats or mischievous calls to emergency services in the hopes of sending a large number of armed law enforcement officials to a specific address.

Hospital staff received text warning about Code Silver threats indicating the status of active shooters and hostages.

The suspect was later arrested by authorities. Officials have not made his name public.

During the lockdown, incoming ambulances had been reused to other nearby hospitals. Patients and visitors were not permitted to enter the lockdown.

The incident on Friday night follows two attack situations that took place earlier this week.

On Wednesday night, dozens of heavily armed deputies flocked to Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital after a caller said they were planning to “shoot” the San Bernardino County facility.

A swatting call about an active shooter Thursday night sparked a massive police response at Claremont McKenna College in Claremont.

A hospital official said, “Huntington Hospital was threatened today with a call to our facility. We immediately notified the Pasadena Police Station, which is responding promptly and reporting that this individual is currently in custody.”

Officials said the hospital has been settled and regular surgery has resumed.

This developing story will be updated as details become available.
