Police arrested a man and a 16-year-old suspected robbery at a San Bernardino County restaurant, leading the officers on Thursday in a devastating pursuit.
Two more suspects remain on a massive scale Friday night.
Upland Police Station posted details along with video editing to X, showing events from the break-in, pursuit and arrest.
Police said they received a call around 3:30am to allow the robbery alarm to depart at a restaurant near Seventh Avenue and Mountain Avenue.
When officers arrived they saw the suspect running into the stolen Dodge Challenger.
“No one is surprised, but the vehicle quickly escaped,” the department said on the X-Post.
The chasing officers operated the pits in the parking lot, but the challenger continued.
Police said the suspect’s driver intentionally plunged into one of Upland PD’s units and continued to run away.
“These people are the advantages of making poor living choices, so by driving Lindaway, this is a dead end,” the department explained. “The challenger driver then tried to squeeze between two parked cars to get to the sidewalk and got stuck.”
All residents then tried to rescue them from the car and continue on foot, but officers quickly captured a driver (a man from Southgate) who was on probation for a robbery.
“Stop breaking into businesses, what about that,” the officer heard the shirtless suspect say as he puts it in a police car. “Get a job.”
The department said officers quickly detained a second suspect identified as 16 years old from Los Angeles in a nearby carport.
Police have booked two suspects of assaulting with deadly weapons on officers, commercial robbery, felony avoidance, grand larceny, resistance and several other charges.
“The remaining two suspects avoided capture that night, but they may see us soon,” Upland PD said.
Investigators discovered that the Challenger had a stolen paper plate and another stolen plate inside the car.
Authorities later determined that the second stolen plate was associated with other robbers.
