After Thursday’s pursuit, lawmakers broke into a Palashi desert home about three and a half years ago and arrested a man suspected of being robbed.
The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office announced Friday that the suspect had been identified earlier this month as Indio’s Louis Moises Hernandez, 38.
Hernandez is accused of robbing a home that left one injured person on August 15, 2021.
The Sheriff’s Department said the robbery was reported at about 4am at his home in the 72,000 block of Mesaview Drive.
While the victim was asleep, investigators believe Hernandez traveled several times around the house to steal his property.
“During the robbery committee, one of the victims interrupted the suspect, causing a physical altercation, causing physical damage to the victim,” the Sheriff’s Department said at its release.
Authorities did not immediately say what the victim’s injuries were or if they were fully recovered.
Hernandez then escaped from the scene, and was either found or not identified until March 2025.
It was around 1pm on March 13th that the special enforcement team of Riverside Sheriff’s main crime unit, the Palm Desert Investigation Bureau and Palm Desert Station found Hernandez.
The lawmaker attempted to stop Hernandez’s car in the 45,000 block of Palmwood Court, but he failed to make a concession and therefore began a pursuit.

“Hernandez was eventually arrested safely,” the Sheriff’s Office said.
Lawmakers booked Hernandez at the Robert Presley Detention Center for Home Invasion Robbers and Home Robbers.
Authorities recommend that this is an ongoing investigation and anyone with information contact Investigator Joshua Smith at Palm Desert Sheriff’s Station at 760-836-1600.
