Shohei ohtani is a special player, so it’s only natural for him to wear a special jersey.
The Los Angeles Dodgers superstar will resume his pitching duties in the 2025 season after recovering from elbow surgery. However, this is not just something new to the Japanese sense.
As part of a new program in Major League Baseball, Otani will be one of six players who will rock a special patch of his jersey this season, working with trading card company Topps and apparel merchant fanatics.

Ohatani will be wearing a Gold MLB “Logoman” patch on the back of his jersey this year as ruler of the 2024 National League MVP. The logo is found on all jerseys, but is usually found in the traditional red, white and blue variations.

Other players with the patch will become five other major award winners of 2024.

What’s the twist on this new program? Each player will be featured with 10 limited edition trading cards, including gold patches used in the authenticated game from the jersey, giving fans the opportunity to find the history of baseball.
Special gold patches are also included in the player’s retail jerseys. So anyone who has purchased a brand new Otani jersey this season has a gold patch on their back.
